Hello! Our names are Dave and June Wentworth from Gonvick, Minnesota.
For years we have dreamed of taking a trip to Alaska.
When we had the money, we didn't have the time and when we had the time, we didn't have the money.
We are in our late 60's and decided if we were going to go, we better do it soon.
We own a 34' motorhome but it doesn't get very good mileage (9 mpg downhill with a tailwind). We estimated that we would spend over $2000 just for fuel. Also, because of the motorhome's age, we were worried that we would have a breakdown that could be very expensive. We could not afford to spend nights in hotels and eat out all the time. Since we are retired, we just couldn't see how we could afford to take this trip. One evening, we were discussing our dreams and concerns with our daughter and son-in-law when they suggested that we take their 2002 Camp-Inn teardrop instead. Our Ford Ranger pick-up was more dependable than our motorhome and could easily pull the teardrop. Since we were talking about spending most of our time traveling and sightseeing, and not much time sitting around a campground, the teardrop seemed to make a lot of sense. Over the next few weeks, we did some research and counted our pennies. We determined if we could stay at inexpensive campgrounds, free waysides and an occasional Wal-Mart parking lot, we could afford to make the trip and still have enough in reserve in case an emergency popped up. Well, Long Story Short...We took the trip and on the following pages are some of our pictures to prove it. I hope this inspires you to take the trip you've always dreamed of.
Thank You, When Dave and June returned from their trip, Dave called us at Camp-Inn to tell us about his trip. We, at Camp-Inn, offered to write a web page about his trip, for him, if he would send us a copy of his pictures with descriptions. So, here it is!
